No one can see me, no one would stop me, no one could help me. They would just call the _____ but it would be too late. My only regret is _____. She’d have the coffee on. There was a time during my search for a cure when I tried everything to stop including giving up _______. The smell filled the ______. I loved to drink a ______ of ______ in the _______, to say ______ to ______ after we’d spent another _______ together. I’d tell her now it’s going okay except for the poison. It’s going okay except for how much I miss her and ______. _______? ______?! I’ve never been a very good ______.

I think even before I filled in the blanks, the poem had a very dark tone to it. I think the first one is not as sad compared to the second paragraph I did. The differences in the two paragraphs is that it feels like the speaker is remembering good times he shared with his mother, as to not having many good things to say about his wife. Another difference I want to point out is in the first paragraph, the speaker spent a whole day with his mother, where as to his wife, they only have moments with each other. Also, in the last two lines, the speaker lies to his mother about everything being alright, while in the second paragraph he lies to his wife about missing her. I get the sense that the speaker has a bit of melancholy towards his wife, for whatever reasons. One thing is the speaker lies to both women in his life to spare their emotions.

                                    Twisted Cliches

1.       “Hot as Hell” and “Slower than Molasses

v  “Slower than Hell” and “Hot as Molasses”

v  I’m pretty sure no one can be slower than Hell, I mean hell isn’t going anywhere, it’s in no rush. Also, maybe if molasses was any hotter, it’d move much quicker.

2.      “Dead as a Doornail” and “cute as a Puppy”

v  “Dead as a Puppy’ and “Cute as a Doornail”

v  There isn’t one thing dead about my puppy and I wish he’d stop teething on everything I own….this is my last pair of socks!!! Also, I’d like to think I have a cute doornail, I even painted it a pretty light pink.

3.      “Go with the Flow” and “Good as Gold”

v  “Go with the Gold” and “Good as Flow”

v  I don’t think that’s a bad idea, basically saying “keep your eye on the prize” (see what I did there). Also, I guess you’re as good as the vibe and “ambience” around you.

4.      “When Life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade” and “If the Shoe Fits”

v  When Life gives you Shoe, you make Lemonade” and “If the Lemons Fit”

v  In my days, I’ve tasted many different flavor of lemonade from strawberry to blueberry, but as a professional lemonade connoisseur, I think shoe lemonade would have to be my least favorite flavor. Also,……. Who would you ever try to make a lemon fit? Fit into what exactly? The palm of your hand?!

5.      “Loose Cannon” and “Hold your Tongue”

v  “Hold your Cannon” and “Loose Tongue”

v  Please, don’t allow your cannon to roll off anywhere so make sure you’re keeping a good eye on it, also it can’t be very attractive to see a person’s tongue flapping all over the place.
